My Life And Times

I was born and raised in southern Ontario, where my parents gave me a Christian name and upbringing, although only one of those managed to stick. I liked math in high school, and so, lacking any better ideas, attended university, leaving with a degree in math but bored of the discipline.

I then did social work and community development for a while, including a stint in El Salvador which required learning Spanish, but later came back to coding, mostly with a small consulting firm based in NYC. In 2004, having fallen in love with an old friend, I followed her to Montreal, which required learning French. We moved in together in the summer of 2006, had a commitment ceremony in 2010, and live a happy, dorky life together.

Also in 2010, I started working for Koumbit Networks, a Montreal-based nonprofit which makes websites primarily for other nonprofit organizations. When not doing that job, I can often be found playing the saxophone badly.
